Welcome! Click here to watch a short video about Warrawee Anglican.
We are a group of residents from Warrawee and surrounding suburbs. Some of us have come to know God through his Son, Jesus, some of us are still checking things out. We are all different ages and come from all different backgrounds. Many of us have kids at Warrawee Public School or Warrawee Playgroup.
Our desire is to live as followers of Christ. To love God, love each other and bless our community.
The 2016 Warrawee Lecture was given by Dr Brian Rosner, principal of Ridley College, Melbourne.
What is a human being? Personal identity and the Bible. Brian writes:
“the world is obsessed with being true to yourself and knowing who you are; there’s never been a time when knowing who you are has been so difficult. If traditional societies are like rivers, buoying their members in one particular direction, modern societies are oceans – you can go in any direction you wish. But what is personal identity? Do my job, my possessions, my experiences, my memories, define who I am? What is a human being?”
The Lecture will be held at 7:30pm on Wednesday May 18 in the school hall of Warrawee Public School, cnr Finlay Rd and Pacific Highway, Warrawee. Please contact Matt Davies if you have any questions. This is a free event, however we ask all attendees to register for a seat using the form below.
Join us at 10am every Sunday throughout April as we explore the gospel of grace and how it impacts our priorities, identities and use of time.
Apr 3: Matt Davies will speak on ‘Work’ (Col. 1:16-18, 1 Peter 2:9). Our work is part of what God is doing in the world.
Apr 10: Matt Davies on ‘Rest’ (Matthew 11:25-30). Freedom is to be resting in Jesus.
Apr 17: Dazz Denier on ‘Play’ (Matthew 18:1-5). We are to be like little children, dependent on our heavenly father in order to enter into his kingdom. When we play we go against our workaholic, performance-based culture and simply trust God and enjoy him.
Apr 24: Don Baird on ‘Love’ (John 15:9-17). We see the Anzac Spirit of sacrifice. There is no greater love than this for a man to lay down his life for his friends. Jesus lays down his life for his disciples, they become his friends. We are then to be sacrificially loving in a similar way.
After four years, our founding pastor Bruce Pass concluded his ministry at Warrawee Anglican to write a PhD on the theology of Herman Bavinck at New College, the University of Edinburgh. It was indeed sad to say goodbye to the Pass family and we wish them all the best for the new phase of their lives in Edinburgh. It will also be exciting to welcome Rev Matt Davies as the new senior minister of Warrawee Anglican in January 2016. Matt, his wife Amy, and their two kids, Lucas and Eliza, will be coming to us from the Barrenjoey Anglican Churches on the Northern Beaches and are looking forward to joining the Warrawee Anglican family.
